It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

The following selections were originally written for #MadVerse, hosted by @MadQueenStorm on Twitter. It's prompt-driven writing which I'd never done before. Unfortunately, I don't recall the prompts for the early ones.

MadVerse #2

Purple heather
Swaying gently
In an unnatural breeze
A false calmness
Before being engulfed
By the orange flames
Of the raging wildfire
Transforming serenity
Into chaotic destruction

MadVerse #3

Shades of blue
Dissipate to black
My fragile joy
Riddled with invisible cracks
As Darkness consumes the Twilight

Prompts for the next few: thorn in my side / let it go / echo

MadVerse #4

I was a thorn in your side
That you couldn't abide
Didn't you know?
I couldn't let go
I plunged off the cliff
Without even an echo

MadVerse #5

Infidelity

He was a thorn in my side
That I couldn't abide
Didn't you know?
I'd never let it go
I pushed him over
Without even an echo

MadVerse #6

When I let it go
There was no echo
Like the thorn in my side
The pain would endure forever

MadVerse #7

I had to let it go
It was the thorn in my side
My full-throated scream
Left no echo
