Reflection

When I looked in my mirror today I saw a different man
It wasn't my reflection and I couldn't understand
Was I the man I thought I was?
It really wasn't clear
And as I stood and watched myself I was paralyzed with fear

What had happened overnight?  I really couldn't say
But something happened while I slept to change me in this way
Had I been in a time warp?
I just didn't know
And as I stood and watched myself my fear began to grow

(Chorus)
Am I losing my mind?
Losing touch with reality?
I'm lookin' in the mirror but what's lookin' back ain't me!
Someone help me get a grip
Give me back my sanity
Is there anybody out there who will help me find the key?

I really don't know what to do I'm frozen in my place
There's an image in the mirror but it's not my face
Was I really crazy?
'Cause that's the way it seems
And as I stood and watched myself I began to dream

Something's coming over me I'm falling to the floor
My image waves goodbye to me I don't see it anymore
And as I rise to brush myself
It's me again I see
And as I stand and watch myself it's all a mystery

The News

I think my life is so rough
I think my life is too hard
I think that I've got problems that cannot be solved

Then I pick up the paper
And I read about pain
I read about the bomb                    That blew up his plane
I read about the earthquake           In Afghanistan
And I begin to realize                     That I don't have it so bad

I think my life is so rough
I think my life is too hard
I think that I've got problems that cannot be solved

Then I pick up the paper
And I read about pain
About the tropical jungle               That gets acid rain
I read about the flood                    That washed away the town
And I drop to my knees                 Thankin' God I didn't drown

And the pages are filled with death and destruction
About the rainforest razed for       New mall construction
Kosovo bombed                            Women degraded
Animals neglected                         Politicians elected
Identities mistaken                         Religion forsaken

Untitled

So if you want me
Horizontal
Just intersect me
At my diagonal
I'll pass you later
Out on the highway
Just like you're standing
Still in the driveway
And if you think I'm
Suicidal
Watch your back, son
I'm homicidal
Can't pull the trigger
On my weapon
I'll drop a dime
Out at the payphone

What's goin' on?
What's goin' on?
Can't ya hear me?
What's goin' on?
Do ya fear me?

So if you want me
Transcendental
I don't think it's
Coincidental
I'll pass you later
Out on the highway
Maybe on Monday
Maybe on Friday
And if you think I'm
Sophisticated
The simple truth is
I'm suffocated
Can't see the danger
On the horizon
But I don't find that
A bit surpisin'

What's goin' on?
What's goin' on?
Are ya out there?
What's goin' on?

The river's twisted
I'm convoluted
My mind is tainted
Water's polluted
So when you think I'm
Goin' crazy
Please remember
I'm just plain lazy
I feel you better
Take precautions
I'm approaching
Total exhaustion

And if you think I'm
A contradiction
It's just a case of
Abundant friction
